[Persian] Intermediate/Standard First Aid CPR C/AED Recertification

(Former OFA level 2 in English, recognized by Worksafe BC)

This Canadian Red Cross Intermediate / Standard First Aid & CPR-C/AED Blended course covers critical skills and knowledge needed to save lives and relieve suffering in medical emergencies—ranging from CPR and cardiac arrest to severe conditions such as head and spinal injuries. This course provides practical life-saving first aid skills to meet workplace requirements and prepares you to respond effectively to various medical emergencies at home or in the workplace. It meets Canadian federal and BC provincial regulatory requirements for Standard First Aid and CPR, and is recognized by WorkSafeBC.

If you are a childcare / daycare worker, it is strongly recommended that you consult with your employer before registering. Some childcare centers in BC may prefer the Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR/AED Level B course.

Course Components: Online Theory (Self-study) – 8 hours, In-Person Classroom Skill Training – 8.5 hours

• Preparing to Respond – including prevention of disease transmission
• Emergency Medical Services System
• Check, Call, Care – including shock and recovery position
• Airway Emergencies – including conscious and unconscious choking
• Breathing and Circulation Emergencies – including allergies, asthma, hyperventilation, heart attack, stroke, and severe bleeding
• Respiratory and Cardiac Arrest – including CPR-C and AED for all age groups
• Wound Care – including minor wounds, impaled objects, amputations, penetrating chest injuries, and burns
• Head and Spinal Injuries
• Bone, Muscle, and Joint Injuries – including strains, sprains, dislocations, and fractures
• Sudden Medical Emergencies – including diabetes, seizures, and fainting
• Environmental Emergencies – including frostbite, hypothermia, and heat stroke
• Poisons – including Lyme disease

How the Blended Course Works

Participants must successfully complete the online self-study training before attending the in-person classroom training. The online component does not need to be completed in one sitting; you can pause at any time and resume where you left off.

Participants will receive access to the Canadian Red Cross online component via email usually within 1 to 24 hours after registration and payment. (If you register more than 4 weeks prior to the in-person class date, the online access link will be sent 3.5 weeks before the class.)

Participants must complete the online component no later than the day before the in-person class date and email the completion card issued by the Canadian Red Cross to Family Plus First Aid (info@familyplusfirstaid.com). The date you register for is the date of your in-person skills training and written exam.

1. Prerequisite (Mandatory): Intermediate/Standard First Aid CPR C/AED or Intermediate/Standard First Aid CPR C/AED (Blended)

• Your previous certificate must be current and valid, issued by a recognized provider (Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke, Lifesaving Society, or St. John Ambulance).
• This applies only to recertifications completed prior to the expiration date of your current certificate.
• Participants must review the provided e-Book after registration to prepare for the written examination.

2. Course Components: In-Person Classroom Skill Training – 8.5 hours (Online self-study exempted)
